A recent name change might have improved relations with its southern neighbor Greece, but this is still a country with a disputed history. The lands might be the same, but it is fighting hard to take a piece of its shared history with the much older nations in its vicinity.
But North Macedonia might not be a country you visit due to its history. This is a country that has much more to offer. Great food is combined with sights such as the Matka canyon and Lake Ohrid.
For us, it was a visit to Skopje in 2013 that still lives strong in our memories.
