By Sea: Portugal’s long Atlantic coastline makes sea travel very important. Cruise ships frequently visit major ports. Lisbon, Porto (Leixões), and Funchal (Madeira) are popular cruise destinations. They offer direct access to city centers. Occasional passenger ferries operate. These link mainland Portugal to its island regions (Madeira, Azores).
