The winter is really staying this year and I guess that we will have to wait a few more weeks before spring arrives. We are spending the weekend on the Åland Islands and have so far had cold temperatures and sunshine. In other words, the conditions are perfect for enjoying the winter landscapes that surround us.
Little A’s Adventures at Mariebad
Mariebad is a complex with a few different swimming pools that are suitable for different ages, Today we packed our stuff and took Little A on an adventure to the swimming pool. She had a great time playing with her grandma, uncle, and cousin, In true Finnish style, she also had a good time talking to some old ladies in the sauna.
Beautiful Winter Landscapes in Mariehamn
While Susann and Little A enjoyed their time swimming I took a walk along the eastern harbor in Mariehamn. The whole bay had frozen and where the boats go in summer people were today walking. The snow and ice were shimmering, creating a really beautiful view. over the water It was, however, not possible to just sit or stand and enjoy it. Due to the cold temperature today, with some degrees below zero, I really needed to walk around for the temperature to be comfortable. Here are some of the photos I took before going back to pick up Susann and Little A from Mariebad.
After getting back home, we had dinner with the family. As the day is a little longer here than in Stockholm, we decided to spend some time outside. Little A tried her new sled.
The Åland Islands might be something of a summer destination. However, on days like this, it’s a really fantastic place. During this weekend, we have really enjoyed the sunshine and nature, as well as quality time with family.
