Well hello there! I can’t believe it’s already the end of April. One month from now we will be enjoying some sunshine and great food in Greece. This spring has been so hectic; after visiting Lahti in Finland, I also made a short trip to London. England was more business than pleasure this time. I have a list of places I want to visit the next time I will be in the UK.

But, let’s talk about Greece!

We have been talking about going abroad for a longer period of time for quite a bit now. There have been many places on our list, we have considered everything from Spain to Italy*. However, we’ve known all along that we wanted to stay in Europe.

Finally, we decided that we’d go to Athens. Some people have questioned this idea, thinking there are more interesting places in Greece. Well, I have been there before. Twice. And I liked it. Just imagine walking on the same streets as those famous Greek philosophers. We will not be spending all our time in the Greek capital, we have some very good plans for the weekends and so on. Actually, we’ve already booked tickets to Cephalonia, Cyprus, and Rome. Apparently, we did not give up on the thought of Italy entirely.

Right now I’m just looking forward to the food, sunshine, beaches, and history. It’ll feel good to be on the road again. And I can’t wait to have some holidays after a few months of working full time. We will surely update this blog and tell you all about our travel plans, the places we saw and the things we did.

Do you have any tips or recommendations for Athens? How about Cephalonia, Cyprus or Rome? And what’s your favorite thing about Greece? Please share!

I love Greece. Anywhere you go in Greece there will be something to see. Besides Athens I would certainly recommend Mistra, Methoni, Dimitsana (site of a wonderful open air water museum), Olympia (preferably stay two nights there so you can devote a whole day to exploring the site), and a visit to the Mani Pensinsula.

A brief coda to my first comment – if you visit aspi.blog and search for Greece you will find some detailed posts from my holiday there in 2014. I will be going out there for the week of 12th to 19th May, and will doubtless post more stuff from that trip.
