About Blekinge

Blekinge is located in the south of Sweden. It was a part of Denmark until the peace treaty of Roskilde in 1658 when it was ceded to Sweden. The area of the province is today Blekinge County and has a population of 158.000 inhabitants.

Blekinge has for a long time been important for the Swedish navy, especially with the establishment of a naval base in Karlskrona.

Largest City: Karlskrona
Province Flower: common oak (Quercus robur) and great mullein (Verbascum thapsus)
Province Animal: European stag beetle
