Travel plans for spring 2018

Our Travel Plans for Spring 2018

Hello friends! The snow is slowly melting outside, the birds are twittering about their return, and it’s time to start planning the spring. As always, we have quite a few exciting things going on. Travel is a big part of it all and today we’d like to share our travel plans for spring 2018 with you.

This year, we want to take advantage of the fact that one of us (in this case Jesper) is on parental leave. Susann has a lot of holidays, In other words, this is the perfect time to go exploring the world.

Our Travel Plans for Spring 2018

Montenegro

This tiny country on the Balkans has been on our list for a long time. There are inexpensive flights from Stockholm Skavsta to the Montenegrin capital Podgorica. We won’t be there for many days, but hopefully, we will have enough time to explore some sights, enjoy the local dining and wining, as well as relax for a bit.

Finland

We have been to Helsinki a few times. However, the rest of Finland remains a bit unknown, even though I have family there. This year we will go to Finland for Easter. During one week, we will spend time with aunts and cousins. Also, there are lots of interesting places to explores. Tampere, Hamina, and Porvoo are the towns and cities on our list.

The Ancient World

I say the ancient world because in a few months from now we will walk the same streets as Aristotle, Aphrodite, and Cicero. Four weeks in Athens and weekend trips to Cephalonia and Cyprus are waiting for us. On the way back, we will stop in Rome for a few days. I am really looking forward to this trip. All our flights are ready, now we just need to find accommodation everywhere except Athens,  In other words, we have a lot of planning to do.

Do you have any tips or recommendations for Athens or Rome?

In this list of travel plans for 2018, we have not included the trips we plan to make to the Åland Islands and to Vagnhärad. With a lot of birthdays coming up, there won’t be many weekends that we will spend at home.

Inspired by our upcoming trip to Rome, I’d like to share a quote by Cicero. What was true in Roman times, seems to be relevant today. In other words, here’s something to think about this Saturday,

“Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century:
Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others;
Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected;
Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it;
Refusing to set aside trivial preferences;
Neglecting development and refinement of the mind;
Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do.”

What do your travel plans for spring 2018 look like? What are you most excited about?

    Sounds like you are starting out the spring time in the best possible way! 🙂 I have you will have a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to reading more about your trips here on the blog!

    I went to Rome on a study trip in High School, and won’t say that I have the best tips from there… My fellow class mates thought it was fun to find all the Danish bars in central Rome?! Why I never understood, but that’s my memory of Rome. Haha.

      Thank you Becci. We are really looking forward to that trip. Luckily we have a few more trips before then, so we don’t need to long for too long. 🙂

      Rome will be interesting, there are a few sights I want to see. But at the same time, I really hope that we are able to find places with fewer tourists as well. 🙂
