Läby Kyrkby is the village at the center of the former Läby Parish in the province of Uppland. A Short History of Läby

The first known mentioning of Läby dates back to the early 14th century. It is believed that the church was built already in the 12th century. The Läby Parish has, at least, its origins in the Middle Ages. Läby Parish is since 1971 a part of Uppsala Municipality.

Things to Do and See

It is hard to imagine that much can have changed around the settlement in the centuries since the construction of the church. Yes, the road has been built, but there is a feeling that the fields have always been there. So, welcome to the Swedish countryside, where it is hard to find anything else than fields and forests.

Läby Church

The church was once the center of the local parish and has its origins around the 12th century. It has seen many reconstructions over the years and the last major changes took place in the early 19th century when the integrated clock tower was built. It replaced the external tower that has since disappeared. The church was abandoned in 1860 and it took until the 1920s before it was opened again. It is today a part of Norra Hagunda Congregation.
