Population

Medelpad has a population of approximately 127,000 people. This makes it a moderately populated province in Sweden. A significant concentration of its residents live in the larger coastal cities. The population is largely centered around the Sundsvall region.

Sundsvall: This is Medelpad’s largest city and the county seat of Västernorrland County. Sundsvall is beautifully situated by the Bothnian Sea. It’s surrounded by rolling hills. It’s famous for its unique “Stone City” (Stenstan). This was built with impressive stone buildings after an 1888 fire. Sundsvall is a regional hub for commerce. Location

Medelpad is located in central Sweden. This makes it a geographical transition zone. It borders Ångermanland to the north. Hälsingland lies to the south. Jämtland is to the west.
