Turkey – The Gateway to Asia

Turkey is a rather new country and was established first after the First World War in 1923. But its predecessor – the Ottoman Empire – had at that time been part in forming European history for centuries.

Turkey’s largest city is Istanbul, located at the border between Europe and Asia and by many considered to be the Gateway to Asia. It’s a city with many names in the past – Byzantium, Constantinople, and Miklagård to mention a few. It is also Istanbul that we visited in 2015.
