Georgia – Raising from the Unknown

This country in the Caucasus is for a lot of people unknown. The name is usually mixed up with its namesake in the US – the state of Georgia. It is in Georgian known as Sakartvelo (საქართველო), which is a bit more distinct. This former Soviet republic has been independent since 1991. The country has, however, been independent many times before.

Georgia is filled with natural beauty and one of the richest histories in the world. The green hills and valleys are filled with old churches, with fortresses, with small towns and villages. There is no end to everything there is to explore. That is also the reason why we want to return after our visit in 2016.

The language might be hard for us foreigners to read, but we are sure there will be friendly people there to help you.
