Hällberga, Södermanland – Exploring Sweden

Hällberga is a locality in Eskilstuna Municipality in Södermanland County. This area was earlier part of Stenkvista Parish and developed in the vicinity of the local railway station. The railway has today been closed, but around 610 people still live here just to the southeast of the city of Eskilstuna.

A Short History of Hällberga

The railway line Norra Södermanlands Järnväg opened in 1895 and included a station in what is today Hällberga. The railway went between Eskilstuna and Södertälje and was in operation up until 1994. This was when the railway line was replaced by the new route of Svealandsbanan.

Things to Do and See

The railway line might be gone but in its place is today a paved cycling path that can take you to either Eskilstuna or Ärla. This makes it possible to easily explore the area on either bike or foot. This path will most likely take you past the white tower that is the local water tower. There are a few smaller services available within the locality and it is not far to the city of Eskilstuna for the one that wants a more urban experience. For the ones that do prefer the rural parts of Sweden, then there is a lot to explore also in the direct vicinity of Hällberga.
