The Gambia – The Smiling Coast of Africa

The Gambia is a narrow stretch of land that goes from the Atlantic Ocean and follows the Gambia River into Senegal, almost splitting Senegal in two. It is a former British colony that recently changed ruler after Yahya Jammeh’s 22-years-rule.

The Gambia, which markets itself as “the smiling coast of Africa” might be relying on tourism for its income. This as the two major exports of the country are peanuts and dried fish.

For tourists, there is a lot to experience. The country might be small, but it is filled with cultural diversity, historic sights, and natural wonders. Something we really enjoyed during our visit in 2016.
