Belgium – The Center of the European Union

Belgium might not be one of the bigger countries in Europe, neither in area nor population. It does, however, share its capital with the European Union. Brussels is the center of the European Union and it is visible in most of the country.

We have been to Belgium twice. First time to Brussels in 2015, enjoying the grandiose buildings and its history. The second time was a road trip with stops in some of the smaller – but still historically significant – towns such as Hasselt and Namur in 2017.

One thing to remember when visiting Belgium is that the different regions have different languages. Dutch or Flemish is spoken in Flanders in the north and French in Wallonia in the south.
