Edland, Vest-Telemark – Exploring Norway

At the meeting point of the rivers Bora and Kjela is the small village of Edland. This is a village in Vinje Municipality in Vestfold & Telemark County in Southern Norway.

Road E134 passes through Edland on its way between Haugesund on the western coast of Norway and Vassum south of Oslo where it meets Road E6. Edland has a larger rest stop for cars and trucks along this important inland route.


Things to Do and See

Nature is never far away in Edland and this really is a gateway to the surrounding mountains like the Haukelifjell. Edland itself is located at an altitude of around 540 meters above the sea and has many lakes and mountains in its vicinity.

Kjela River

The Kjela River flows along the southern part of Edland and into Lake Tveitevatn. In addition to a great view across the valley, the river and lake also offer a good fishing opportunity for anyone with a fishing permit.

Symjebasseng

If the weather does not allow you to enjoy the outdoors, then a stop at the local swimming pool is a possibility. Symjebasseng is Norwegian for swimming pool and there is one to be found that has a 12.5-meter-long pool with three lanes.

  • Flights: Bergen Airport (BGO) is 231 kilometers to the east. It offers both domestic and international flights.
  • Car: Edland is located along Road E134 just to the west of Haukeli.
