Tufjordhøyda, Vest-Finnmark | Exploring Norway
Tufjordhøyda is a viewpoint and rest area along the road to Nordkapp. It lies on the island of Magerøya in Finnmark county in the far north of Norway. It is known as a great spot to see the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. That is not all, this far north the summer months are known for the Midnight Sun, where the sun doesn’t set from mid-May up until the end of July.

This is a very scenic spot with a great view of the fjord Tufjorden to the west. During the summer months, from the middle of May up until the end of July, you can enjoy the Midnight Sun. Well, if you are lucky with the weather, which can change fast. The same applies for the winter, but then it is the polar night. With the darkness of the winter that offers the possibility, if you are lucky, to see the Northern Lights. Either time, it is a spectacular view.
How to Get to Tufjordhøyda
- Flights: The nearest airport is Honningsvåg Airport (HVG), a regional airport with limited flights to other northern destinations such as Hammerfest. Mehamn, Tromsø, and Vadsø.
- Car: Tufjordhøyda lies along road E69, between Nordkapp and Olderfjord. At Olderfjord the road connects with the road E6.
