Dimforsen, Lappland – Exploring Sweden

Dimforsen is a waterfall, or rather a rapid, along the river Kultsjöån in the southernmost parts of the province of Lappland in northern Sweden. Today this area is a part of Vilhelmina Municipality in Västerbotten County and lies along the tourist road known as Vildmarksvägen, the Swedish Wilderness Road. During spring and early summer when the snow in the mountains is melting this river and its rapids increase in intensity and offer a majestic sight.

Things to Do and See

There are parking pockets along the road just above the river. From there it is possible to walk down towards the river and follow the small paths along the water until you stand at the top of the falls. In the spring and early summer, it is just to follow the sound of the fall to find your way. A mist created by the falls might also tell you that you are getting closer.

Well, what to do here? If the mist is not too heavy it is a beautiful spot for a picnic. A few might also consider the spots to be a good spot for selfies. But our main recommendation is to enjoy the scenery and tranquility. Even with the sound of the falls, there is a feeling here of being far out into the Swedish wilderness.
